Clwt Twt is a Welsh company and is proud of being Welsh. That being so, we have chosen Welsh names for our products.
Clwt Twt means ‘sweet’ or ‘cute’ nappy. Each word rhymes with ‘put’ ‘soot’ or ‘foot’. Clwt Twt nappies are made lovingly and carefully at home.
These are not a mass produced factory product and we can therefore make nappies to suit most people’s needs.

The Design
All the Clwt Twt range are made from strong and absorbent materials. Each nappy has an elasticated back and legs to prevent those embarrassing little leaks and allow for a comfy, snug fit. We use Lastine ©, a waterproof elastic that will probably outlast the nappy itself. Each nappy has six layers of material to absorb the maximum amount of liquid. Two of the layers, known as a soaker, are sewn into the nappy, another two form a ‘tongue’ which hangs from the nappy allowing for quicker drying. The tongue can also be folded towards the front, giving another two layers for boys where it is needed most.
All the nappies can be washed at 60 degrees and tumble dried on a medium setting.
What Size?
The basic range is a size 2 nappy. The nippa version will fit most babies from birth to potty as the top can be folded over for very small babies. Babies, however, do come in a vast range of different sizes and shapes. We therefore do a larger size 3 for those that outgrow the size two before potty training, Please click here for measurements of the nappies to see which will suit your baby best.
Some people find that they can never get a nappy to fit no matter what size they buy. So for the bigger little bottom, or the smaller little bottom, we can make nappies to your specifications. Please contact us for details of this service and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What you need to go with the nappy
Outer Wrap
All Clwt Twt nappies need a waterproof outer wrap. We recommend using natural pure wool wraps. These are breathable, allow moisture to evaporate thus allowing the nappy to be used for longer without saturating. Wool wraps need to be lanolised occasionally but do not need to be washed after every use. Please see our links page to find out more about these wraps.
Liners
You don’t have to use liners with the nappies, but most people choose to do so as it makes nappying less messy!! Once soiled the liner allows you to dispose of waste in the toilet. Throw away paper liners can be bought in major chemists or baby shops and can also be biodegradable. You can also use re-usable fleece liners, which allow the babies skin to stay dry. Some babies however, have an allergy to fleece, so do watch out for any rash . We occasionally have fleece liners to sell on the site, please check for availability.

Boosters
At night, or when a baby is drinking lots of fluids, a few extra layers of material help nappies from saturating too quickly. We make shaped bamboo boosters to cater for this.
Nappy Nippas or pins
Nappy Nippas are plastic devices that are used instead of the nappy pin. If you choose to have a ‘nippa’ nappy, you will need some of these. They can be bought online or at most large baby shops. Sometimes reverting back to the old nappy pin works better as babies soon learn to pull the nappy nippa, aplix or popper fastened nappies off!!
